The Ultimate Weekend Getaway – Living Water Resort and Spa

The Ultimate Weekend Getaway – Living Water Resort and Spa

My husband and I love getting away to the Collingwood area for a quick day trip.  We decided that we actually wanted to stay over the weekend and explore the region. The weekend we decided to stay was Earth Day so we wanted to enjoy hiking at the Scenic Caves Nature Adventures (more on that in another post).  On our recent weekend getaway we stayed at the Living Water Resort and Spa.

After researching places to stay we decided to stay at the Living Water Resort and Spa.  What attracted us to this resort is that it’s a waterfront resort located on the Georgian Bay.

Living Water Resort is part of the larger Cranberry Village that is located in the heart of Collingwood and a short drive to Blue Mountains Villae. The Cranberry Village has been family owned over the last twenty years by Larry Law who developed the Village into a residential and hospitality area with the focus being on family and experiences.

We packed up the Ford Escape and headed up north.  It is approximately a two hour drive from our home.

The Living Water Resort and Spa is an all-year vacation paradise located on the waterfront of Georgian Bay, in Collingwood, Ontario.

Living Water Resort

It is located in the perfect location to discover the natural beauty of Collingwood and the surrounding area.  They offer a range of indoor and outdoor activities for couples and the entire family.  This is a great location for a weekend getaway for couples or a weekend getaway for families.

We arrived at the resort around 4pm and we were quickly checked in by the friendly staff.  The lobby area is modern and inviting.

Living Waters Resort

When we opened the door to our suite we were in awe.  The first thing we noticed was the size of the suite and the spectacular views.  Our room had a waterfront view of Georgian Bay.

Our Suite

Living Water Resort

There is something so tranquil about staying on the water.  The room amenities include a king bed and a pullout couch in the living room; a full living room with a fire place (this is a nice touch), dining room and balcony.  I loved the view from the balcony. It was a great place to sit in the morning and enjoy our coffee.  The room also has a washer and dryer;  a full kitchen with a fridge, stove, oven, microwave, sink, dishwater, and more; flatscreen TVs; and complimentary WiFi.  Basically you don’t need to leave the suite if you don’t want to.

Living Water Resort

There is nothing better than enjoying a morning coffee on the balcony with this spectacular view.

Living Water Resort

There are a variety of indoor recreational facilities and activities for adults and children.  There is a breathtaking indoor pool with an inside out water slide and an outdoor hot tub for relaxation.  They also have a fully equipped fitness centre that offers a variety of fitness classes.

The Pool

Living Water Resort

Living Water Resort provides a convenient location perfect to discover the marvellous natural beauty of Collingwood and the surrounding areas. Offering an amazing view of both the Blue Mountains and the beautiful waters of Georgian Bay.

There is also a large game room that I am sure any kid (or kid like adult) wouldn’t want to leave.

Golf

Living Water Resort

If you love to golf then you will be delighted by the nearby 18-hole championship golf course.  If you are not a golfer you can enjoy lunch or drinks at the clubhouse.

Cranberry Golf course holds the distinction of being named the first course in Canada to be appointed to the Adubon Society Certified Course List. Expansive fairways and meticulously manicured greens integrate with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, to test even the most seasoned veteran of the sport.

Lakeside Seafood & Grill

Living Water Resort

The Lakeside Seafood & Grill is the only waterfront dining option in the Collingwood area.  An earth to table menu approach focusing on the freshest seasonal ingredients

My husband and I enjoyed some appetizers at the restaurant.  We enjoyed the Steamed PEI Blue Mussels, the Bruschetta Crip, and the Vegetarian Spring Rolls.  It was all very delicious.

Living Shore Spa

I was lucky to be able to enjoy the Aquapath at the Living Water Shore Spa

This is an exclusive Aquapath facility — the first in Ontario and second location in Canada.

Hydrotherapy has been traditionally defined as a natural remedy that involves the use of water, such as water pressure and temperature for therapeutic purposes to stimulate circulation and assist the body in its natural healing process.  Hydrotherapy is instrumental in stimulating the immune system, assisting in detoxification and promoting overall well-being.

This is an amazing rejuvenating experience for a couples or a girls retreat.

Friendly staff directed me to the change room where I changed into my bathing suit.  Bathrobes and slippers are provided for covering up.

The Aquapath takes you through a series of hydrotherapy stations.  The entire series takes approximately 45 minutes.

Living Resort and Spa

The 1st station was the Swiss Shower where there are multiple body jets and a large rain head shower.

The 2nd station is a 4 stage series of waterfall benches where you sit or stand at each station as waterfalls rain over you in different patterns to hit different pressure points on the head and shoulders.

The 3rd station is the detoxifying mineral bath.

The 4th station is the eucalyptus steam room.

The 5th stage is the glacier shower. It is a waterfall of ice cold water that falls over your head designed to promote circulation. I think I only put my big toe in this one- it is cold!

The 6th stage is the river walk.  There are 2 separate trenches (1 warm on the left and 1 cool on the right) that have pebbles on the bottom for the feet as you walk down the trench. Jets also progressively gets higher up the leg as you walk through. This is designed for you to complete two times.

Weekend Getaway

The 7th stage is the replenishing mineral bath with a jumbo rain shower head on one side.  The bath is designed to replenish minerals into the body. You can choose to either relax like a hot tub sitting on a bench or stand under the refreshing rain.

Weekend Getaway

The 8th station is the exfoliation tub.  It is a tub with water and you are provided with a sea salt and essential oil mixture to exfoliate the body leaving the skin silky smooth.  Literally, your skin will feel super soft.

The 9th and final station is the rain head shower where you end the session by rinsing of and returning to the waiting room.

I returned to the change room and showered.

This was an amazing experience.  I haven’t experience anything like this.  I came out feeling completely relaxed.  I would highly recommend the Aquapath experience.  I felt completely refreshed and rejuvenated.

Sadly, our weekend getaway has come to an end and we headed back home.

Thank you to the Living Water Resort & Spa for hosting our stay.  I would highly recommend a visit to this resort. It has exceeded our expectations.  Make sure to book your Aquapth experience as this is not to be missed.
