My husband and I finally visited one of my dream vacation locations – Marrakech, Morocco. We stayed at a hidden gem of a hotel called the Lodge K. This resort is truly a dream escape hidden behind high fortress type walls and a heavy wooden gate. The entrance is lined with rich greenery with palm trees, cacti, pine, coconut, olive trees, roses and also bamboo, agave, and other fruit trees. It truly feels like you are stepping into an oasis. Lodge K is made up of five lodges and three suites situated amongst the greenery.
This is the ultimate hotel escape for privacy and luxury. Located only 22 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the Medina and set in a very serene atmosphere. They offer their own personalized transportation so you can feel at ease getting around Marrakech.
LODGE K RECEPTION AREA
The lobby serves both as the reception area and dining room with an extended terrace. With the sofas in shades of browns, feline paintings, mahogany furniture, this cozy atmosphere truly feels like a colonial African lodge.
THE POOL AT LODGE K
Through a maze of alleys across this garden of delights, one arrives to a huge inviting pool with crystal clear water.
Out of the pool, one can relax by lounging under the sun on rattan beds shaped like weaved nests, or in comfortable long chairs and enjoy a tanning session surrounded by birds singing.
Each lodge is decorated in a different theme such as the African Lodge, Art Deco, Egyptian, Masters Lodge and one lodge with its very own pool. Each lodge is equipped with air conditioning, very authentic themed furniture, large bathrooms and a very serene ambiance.
We stayed in the Art Deco Lodge that is highlighted by decoration accents of the 1930’s era. The room is furnished with dynamic furniture, a fireplace, a large canopy bed, leather club chairs and precious wood veneers.
DINING AT LODGE K
The restaurant offers ultra fresh products that were prepared on demand at all hours of the day. We never had to rush to the restaurant in the fear of missing the dining hours. All the meals were prepared traditionally with local, fresh ingredients. I am more of a coffee person but I loved the famous Morrocan mint tea served several times daily with an assortment of sweet delights. We also enjoyed local Moroccan wine and beer that is only available at the resorts.
If you are looking for ultimate relaxation, you can enjoy the inhouse spa where you can experience a Hammam scrub, facials, massages, reflexology, etc.
The Lodge K felt like our secret hideaway that we didn’t want to share with anyone. It didn’t feel like we were staying in a typical hotel, it felt like we were guests at a family compound. We loved our stay and would highly recommend the Lodge K to anyone looking for a luxury experience. You will love everything from the unique accommodations to the amazing hospitality – thank you so much Lodge K for a truly amazing experience.
