Lunch At Farmer and The Seahorse Torrey Pines, California

On our recent trip to the San Diego area, we stopped for lunch at Farmer and The Seahorse in Torrey Pines, a restaurant known very well to locals. Located in the heart of the Alexandria tech center which is a development of life sciences firms, it’s like being on the farm in a little nature oasis in the city.  It is a hidden gem that is off the tourist attractions but a must visit for lunch.

As we arrived at the farm restaurant we noticed the number of cars parked on the expansive lot, we knew this was one popular restaurant. Walking towards the entrance are hints of what’s in store with a red tractor and farm silo. On this day at noon the outdoor patio was bustling and even indoors every table was full……a sure sign this place is very well known and popular.

This restaurant is off the beaten path, but don’t let that fool you.  What drew us to Farmer and The Seahorse is the “farm to table“ menu which is what we always look for when selecting a restaurant. Being in California, farm fresh ingredients take on a whole new meaning and this lunch menu is no exception with Award-winning Celebrity Chef Brian Malarkey’s inventive dishes that are inspired by the bounty of the freshest local ingredients.

Appetizers here are an abundant selection of creatively prepared field greens with almost everything grown locally. Our salads were so fresh and lively the way they should be.  The main entrees are offered in two categories: “Blue Plates” which are known as simple healthy options and “Breaded Wonders“ for those looking to treat themselves. We decided to choose from both and were pleasantly surprised with the gourmet presentations of each dish, not usual found for lunch plates. Preparing meals carefully like this when it’s so busy is quite an achievement but the chefs here pull it off with every plate tasting so good!

For dessert we tried both options and both were simple and sweet and with their premium coffee offerings it made for really nice way to enjoy the outdoor patio.

Farmer and The Seahorse is a very unique restaurant, it seems to be a place where friends can escape a busy workplace or a hectic day, relax and enjoy really good, healthy food all in the beautiful Torrey Pines surroundings. Everyone we seen here having lunch looked to be truly enjoying themselves ! Our experience here was very pleasant and relaxed and we loved every dish ….Too bad lunch couldn’t be like this every day.
