Are you planning a trip to Portugal and wondering where to stay in Lisbon? If you are heading to the magical capital of Portugal, staying at one of the best five-star hotels in Lisbon is a must. When staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, expect nothing but the best from the service, the accommodations and the fine dining. You will find it difficult to leave after experiencing this luxurious hotel. We were excited to be staying at Lisbon’s original luxury hotel located in the heart of Lisbon and a quick 15-minute drive from the airport.
The Four Seasons Lisboa is located in the heart of the city, yet tucked away just outside the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. You will find the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon surrounded by beautiful gardens and an enormous amount of flowers.
Entering this five-star hotel, you will be greeted to the opulent lobby with beautiful orchids mounted from the ceiling. There are orchid displays arranged all throughout the hotel. At first, we thought that they were artificial but then we learned that these arrangements are changed weekly for freshness and variety.
The Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon is renowned as one of Portugal’s premier hotels. With stunning city views, a unique Portuguese Contemporary Art Collection, a luxurious spa and swimming pool, rooftop fitness centre, and gourmet dining, why would you want to leave? Don’t be fooled by the modest exterior of the hotel as you will be surprised by the luxurious decor and service once you step foot in the lobby.

Table of Contents
The hotel has 241 guest rooms and 41 suites with hilltop views of Old Lisbon, St George’s Moorish Castle and the Tagus River.
If space is a priority when deciding where to stay in Lisbon, then you will love the large rooms at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon. As we entered the corridor of our room, we were immediately excited by the sheer size and decor and we knew we were going to enjoy our stay.
Our room had a large marble bathroom with double sinks, a large tub and a large shower, there was lots of room for both of us. The heated towel rack, L’Occitane toiletries and the plush terry robes and comfortable slippers were a nice touch.
The rooms are also equipped with Nespresso coffee machines, making it easy to grab a freshly brewed coffee without leaving your room. Each guestroom also has a fully stocked in-room bar as well as 24-hour room service.
The best part of our room was waking up to some of the best views in Lisbon as we stepped onto our private terrace overlooking the old town, Eduardo VII Park and the hotel gardens.
Dining at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon
When deciding where to stay in Lisbon, the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon makes it an easy choice with all the dining options available at the hotel. The restaurants focus on locally sourced ingredients such as the Portuguese seafood, suckling pig, fruit, including Madeira bananas and Rocha pears.
Dining at Veranda Restaurant
We were welcomed every morning with a lavish buffet breakfast with the option to order additional items off the menu. If you were going to eat just one meal, it would definitely be breakfast. The selection was outstanding with hot egg dishes, smoked fish, cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee and so much more.
Dinner at Veranda Restaurant offers a great menu selection and during the warmer months, you can sit outside on the patio overlooking the hotel grounds and Lisbon’s Eduardo VII park.
The menu changes seasonally but if you get a chance I would recommend the Discovery Menu that offers all the flavours of Lisbon such as deep-sea clam, the roasted octopus, braised red mullet and the suckling pig. There are many different menu options such as sea bass and stone bass. From the countryside, they offer beef tenderloin, Duplantier duck, suckling pig, and veal tenderloin
O Japonese
If you are craving sushi then head to the O Japonese for some signature dishes in an authentic Japanese atmosphere.

Four Seasons Ritz Bar
Head to the Ritz Bar for a pre-dinner snack or drink before heading out to enjoy the evening. Try one of their signature cocktails such as the Ginjinha cocktail with ginja berries and ginjinha cherry liquer or cocktail that is inspired by Lisbon’s Jacaranda trees a floral themed violet coloured cocktail. There is also a great selection of Portuguese wines and beers to choose from as well.
Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon Spa and Fitness Centre
If you want to get a workout in after eating all those Pastéis de Natas, then head up to the fitness centre o the 11th floor that features an outdoor running track overlooking Lisbon. Even if you don’t feel like working out you should probably head up there just for the amazing views.
You can either pump some iron with state of the art fitness equipment or take or challenge yourself on in the pilates room on one of the reformers. The Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon also offers a spa on site with a pool. Unfortunately, it was under construction while we were there but we did get to enjoy the sauna during our visit.
Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon Orchid Display
After a long day exploring and eating our way through Lisbon, nothing is better than coming back and relaxing in the orchid sanctuary. We were surrounded by orchids throughout the hotel.
Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon Sidecar Tour
The Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon offers an exhilarating way to explore the streets of Lisbon. Tour through Lisbon in a vintage motorcycle and sidecar as you cruise through the winding cobblestone streets to discover this spectacular city with stops at famous locations such as Alfama, Castelo de São Jorge, Bairro Alto, Chiado.
This is a wonderful experience that the hotel offers and would highly recommend it. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we were not able to experience the side-car motorcycle tour but we were lucky to tour Lisbon in this fabulous vintage car.
If you are ready to be treated like royalty then the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon is a must for you. We had a wonderful stay at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon and our only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it all. The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful experience. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
