Arriving in Arizona we couldn’t wait to check into our first hotel. We spent our first couple of nights at the Hermosa Inn, a small luxury boutique hotel located in the Phoenix suburb of Paradise Valley. Lon Magargee, a Western artist, originally built the Inn as a home and studio. The once western studio was transformed into a luxury Inn of 43 rooms and an award-winning restaurant Lons. It is located just a short drive from Scottsdale.
The Beautiful Grounds
When we pulled into the driveway of this boutique hotel, I was mesmerized by the beautiful floral garden. Not something I expected to see in the desert. The grounds of the inn are extremely well manicured and will make you feel like you are staying at a Spanish style villa in Spain.
We walked through the windy walkway trails through beautiful lushly landscaped gardens that lead us to our spectacular room.
Accommodations at The Hermosa Inn
The Hermosa Inn has 43 hacienda-style guestrooms and casitas. The hacienda-style guestroom was decorated in a Southwestern Old Arizona charm equipped with a fireplace, a secluded patio and beautiful vaulted ceilings with a skylight.
LON’S Restaurant
The cozy underground wine cellar internationally recognized by Wine Spectator
LON’s restaurant is rated as one of Paradise Valley’s top restaurants. We had the pleasure of dining and LON’s and see why this is one of Paradise Valley’s top restaurants. Executive Chef Jeremy Pacheco uses the regions freshest ingredients using age-old cooking traditions of roasting, smoking and wood-grilled while combining cutting-edge trends.
Hermosa Salad with local greens, goat cheese, apples, pecans, pomegranate vinegarette
Oysters
Himalayan salt seared ahi tuna
We dined on the popular Himalayan Salt Seared Ahi Tuna, served with cilantro, pickled onion, and ceviche sauce as well as the Pacific oysters jalapeño citrus ceviche.
Alaskan halibut with English pea puree, snap peas, baby carrots, morel mushrooms, spring onions, Meyer lemon foam
Lamb three ways
Dining outdoors surrounded by lush gardens and under the canopy of old trees was simply spectacular. The scenery was only surpassed by the quality of our meal along with the impeccable yet relaxed and friendly service. Lon’s is well known for special occasion dining and yet we felt so comfortable as if we were at a family backyard dinner gathering.
In the sprawling city of Scottsdale, filled with luxury resorts, the quaintness of the Hermosa Inn is so unique. It truly is a special, quiet oasis with so much romance and charm that is just perfect for couples. With an outstanding outdoor restaurant, spectacular grounds and such an interesting history, this gorgeous Inn is like a hidden jewel in the desert. For us, it was a place we will never forget and most definitely will return….the perfect location to make lasting memories. Check for the most up to date prices.

Aside from the beautiful grounds, and the food that looks so good I wish I could eat it off me screen, that room looks absolutely stunning! I don’t know how you left it!
I was definitely hard to leave – I wish I was still there
The pictures look stunning. Would love to visit!
It’s such a beautiful hotel.
Wow, It’s looks awesome. It reminds me the place, which I visited during my trip to Hawaii 🙂
Wow Hermosa Inn es muy hermosa! I’m a boutique hotel girl, so this would be perfect for me. Also, Lon’s restaurant looks fantastic too. I’d love to try that dish!
I agree – that amount of lush flowers and greenery amongst the grounds isn’t something I would expect in the middle of Arizona. It truly looks like an oasis. I can’t believe that used to be a personal home and studio! Of course I would love to live there! haha
Wow I hardly ever get swayed by “where to stay” posts but this one was amazing. That place looks absolutely gorgeous. Every detail of it seems perfect
What a GORGEOUS place!
