Winery in Tampa, Florida
On our second night in Treasure Island we decided to head out to a winery in Tampa for dinner. What? A winery in Tampa, Florida? Well, kind of. The Cooper’s Hawk is a restaurant with a signature menu with a selection of dishes designed to pair perfectly with their own Cooper’s hawk wines, made in their private winery.
This is a great winery restaurant in Tampa. It is located in a great location, just outside the Tampa International Plaza.
The Cooper’s Hawk concept includes four distinct components: an upscale casual dining restaurant, full-service bar, private barrel-aging room, and Napa-style tasting room and retail gift store…all under one roof.
TASTING ROOM/GIFT STORE AT THE WINERY
Each Cooper’s Hawk location contains a Napa-style Tasting Room in which to sample the winery’s latest selections. A tasting includes eight pours and starts at $7. Additionally, guests can browse the gift shop for food and wine related items, as well as custom designed gift baskets.
What We Ate
From the appetizers we decided to try:
- The crispy Brussel sprouts
- Mexican drunken shrimp
The Brussels sprouts had Cashews, Mint, Sweet Thai Chili, Sesame-Sriracha Aioli. I love crispy brussels sprouts but the sesame-siracha aioli gave them that extra tasty flavour.
The Mexican drunken shrimp are bacon-wrapped shrimp in a tequila lime butter sauce with fresh guacamole
- pistachio-crusted grouper
- southern grilled shrimp and polenta (had rice instead)
- Churrasco grilled steak with sherry glazed mushrooms and rice
Of course we saved room for dessert. Everything was delicious.
- Chocolate cake
- Caramel Banana Bread Sundae
- S’more Budino
The restaurant was busy – it looked like a popular dinner location.
We tried the Super Tuscan and the Shiraz wine. Both are full-bodied, fruit forward, and well rounded. They are easy drinking wines.
Thank you Cooper’s Hawk Winery for hosting our wonderful dinner. If you are in the Tampa area you need to visit Cooper’s Hawk Winery for a wonderful wine and food experience.
Have you visited Tampa? Any recommendations where to eat?
Although we were guests of the Cooper’s Hawk Winery, these opinions are entirely my own.
