Our Stay at the Wyvern Hotel Punta Gorda

After our stay in Treasure Island we decided to head south towards Punta Gorda, a city we have never visited.

Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda is a unique waterfront destination that has a beautifully restored historic district. There is waterside shopping, you can stroll the Harborwalk and Fisherman’s Village on Charlotte Harbour where you will find streets lined with royal palms and old Florida-era tin roofed homes.

The Wyvern hotel is located in downtown Punta Gorda.  They have a beautifully landscaped rooftop pool deck, with captivating views of Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbor that extends in all directions.

Punta Gorda

This Conde Nast Johansens property has 63 rooms with each room furnished with marble bathroom floors and imported Italian linens, as well as plush pillow top beds and deluxe bath amenities.

The beds are super comfy, you will wake up rejuvenated.  The rooms also feature an iPod docking station, an electric safe, and plush bathrobes.

When we arrived we quickly dropped off our bags, changed into our bathing suits and headed up to lounge by the pool.

We love the rooftop pool.  Great for tanning and sipping on cocktails.

Perch360

We enjoyed dinner at Perch360 which is located on the rooftop of the Wyvern Hotel overlooking Downton Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbour.  They offer locally sourced farm-fresh ingredients, with tapas style dishes to sample the menu items.  I love al fresco dining when in Florida.

Starters:

  •  Octopus a la Plancha  – grilled octopus, Spanish paprika, fried potatoes and fresh parsley
  • Tuna a la Plancha – grilled tuna with a Teriyaki glaze and mango relish

Burgers:

  • BURGER UP!! -local grass-fed and handmade burger on a Kaiser roll with lettuce and tomato
  • THREE SUNS RANCH BISON – local farm-raised, grass-fed bison on a Kaiser roll with lettuce and tomato
  • with sides of house chips and truffle fries

Everything was delicious.

Although Punta Gorda isn’t on the beach, there are many beaches to select from that are a short driving distance away.   The Wyvern hotel was a great home base for day trips exploring the vicinity.

What a wonderful vacation spot. It's absolutely beautiful. The water is so blue. I wonder, are there any vegetarian options after I finish enjoying the sights???
