Chop Steakhouse and Bar Happy Hour

Well, its another Friday night Happy Hour.  Who knew there were so many (well, not that many) Happy Hours.  We decided to try Chop Steakhouse and Bar.  We didn’t want to drive downtown and be in the middle of the Christmas shopping rush.  We decided to keep it somewhat local and away from a shopping mall.  My husband did a bit of research and saw that they have a Happy Hour menu so we thought we would check it out.

The selected drinks are $5 each and the appetizers are $6.

I ordered the red wine and my husband ordered a beer.We decided to order the 5 for $28 small plates.  We ordered:

Steak Bites – marinated bites of steak, served with sweet Dijon bbq dip & horseradish aioli

Vegetable Tempura – broccolini, carrot & asparagus in a light crispy batter with wasabi aioli & citrus soy

I love everything tempura.  This is a must and I would order this again.

Pulled Chicken Tacos – House-smoked pulled chicken, fresh guacamole, crumbled feta

Ravioli Pockets – I’m not sure what the ingredients are for the ravioli pockets.  It tasted like a meat filling in a cream mushroom sauce.  I enjoyed these.

Prime Rib Yorkies – shaved, slow roasted prime rib, horseradish aioli & au jus.

Although not part of the Happy Hour menu, we decided to share a dessert.  We ordered the Caribbean Rum Cake.

They got me at drenched in Appleton rum……….

Unfortunately, I didn’t taste any rum at all.  Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious but it did not taste like a rum cake.  It tasted like a strawberry shortcake with vanilla ice cream.

The restaurant is very sleek and modern.  They even have a fire place in the restroom.

Any great Happy Hours you would recommend?  Now if you live in the US I know you have lots!  In fact, I will be travelling to California next week so it will be a food adventure.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.
