The Niagara Icewine Festival Discovery Pass is your key to three weekends of wine and culinary adventures at wineries across Niagara. Discovery Pass holders can enjoy eight experiences per pass indulging in wine and culinary pairings at each winery crafted specifically to celebrate the season.
We love buying these passes. They have these types of discovery passes a few times a year. We like to take advantage of being able to taste several different wines as well as the culinary pairings. What a great way to enjoy your weekend. Of course we didn’t drink and drive…..we had a designated driver. They offer a designated drivers pass so the driver would enjoy the culinary dishes along with a non-alcohol beverage.
There is no finer way to experience the bounty of winter than travelling the wine route, sipping and savouring the best in local Icewine, table wines and cuisine.

This was a fun experience, roasting some icewine marshmallows. I think we wore most of it though.

Living the Sweet Reifstyle
Join us for our annual pig roast! Savour our signature Vidal Icewine produced from our oldest vineyard.
The last time I enjoyed a pig roast was before my dad passed away. It was nice to see this….brought back memories.

It’s a Classic: Strewn Cabernet Franc Icewine & Dark Chocolate Tartlet
Strewn’s 2011 Cabernet Franc Icewine, has ripe red berry aromas interplaying on a sweet and well-balanced palate. It is matched with a dark Chocolate Ganache and a touch of raspberry-balsamic, all in a tartlet created by pastry chef at OLIV Restaurant.
The desserts were delicious. This icewine was a little different than the rest so we picked up a bottle.

A Harvest of Land & Sea
We are proud to showcase Canada’s bounty with this pairing of our 2015 Vidal Icewine and Late Harvest Cured Salmon Wellington with Dried Apricot and Chili Preserve from our culinary partners at Queen’s Landing.
The Chateau-de Charm really stood out. With the first sip I could taste cotton candy…….not an overwhelming sweetness but very memorable.

Nomad Scent of Tropical Flavours in the midst of Winter Icy Air
Baked square crust filled with fresh pineapple jam fruits and topped by pine nuts, paired with our 2014 award-winning Vidal Icewine. Sweet and Savoury. Fruity and Nutty. Also, fresh cream and wildflower honey add to the texture of this pairing. Mmmm… Delicious and delightful party in your mouth.
All the ice wines and culinary pairings were delicious. We are looking forward to attending the Spring discovery wine event.
We stopped in at Niagara on the Lake downtown before heading home.
Although the Icewine discovery season is over, we did pick up a couple of our favourites. Honestly, we did not have one icewine that we did not like.
Have you tried any Ontario Icewine? If not, why not? Seriously, you are missing out.
