The Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay Morocco is located in the most amazing setting with spectacular views. When we started planning our 20th-anniversary vacation, one of our must stops was the beautiful and exotic country of Morocco. It has been on our bucket list for some time and besides the obvious destination of Marrakech, we had read about a newer premier development by Banyan Tree Resorts at Tamouda Bay which is surrounded by the majestic Rif Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. After researching some blogs and Instagram pictures, we knew we just had to visit.

Tamouda Bay Morocco
The Banyan Tree resort is located on the northwestern coast of Morocco in Tamouda Bay. The resort is 15 km away from the city of Tetouan and a 45-minute drive from bustling Tangier. This resort offers spectacular waterfront views of the Mediterranean Sea and views of the Rif mountain. Tamouda Bay is renowned for having the longest unspoiled beach in Northern Morocco.
BANYAN TREE TAMOUDA BAY MOROCCO RESORT
THE BANYAN TREE RECEPTION
As we arrived at the entrance driveway, nothing could have prepared us for the view of the awe-inspiring white palace on a hill surrounded by olive groves and lush palms. We were escorted down a beautiful breezeway to the hotel entrance and as the doors opened and we stepped into the reception area, we couldn’t help but stop in amazement of what can only be described as the most stunningly beautiful hotel lobby we have ever seen. Within moments we were offered the customary Moroccan mint tea and checked in very graciously by the friendly staff.
OUR PRIVATE POOL VILLA
We were escorted to our room via golf cart (yes, the resort is that big). When we arrived at our private villa, I knew I didn’t want to ever leave. Our villa offered complete privacy with our own private pool and gardens. The main door entrance which was lined with greenery led to another door that opened into the luxurious living room. The living room doors opened to the spacious master bedroom and a gorgeous en-suite bathroom with his and hers sinks, a shower, a spectacular stone round tub and a dressing room. The door from the living room and bedroom led out to our private pool in our private garden………pure bliss. Waking up in front of our own private swimming pool was heaven! We had turn down service every night, fresh fruit in our room, and each night eucalyptus oil would be infused in our bedroom.
DINING AT BANYAN TREE
Of the three distinctive restaurants at this resort, we decided to dine at Tingitana, which serves traditional Eastern Mediterranean dishes. Our waiter, one of the most friendly and courteous gentlemen we have ever met, very patiently described the stews and tagines Morrocans are known for, making the decision of dinner very easy. This new cuisine to us, of fragrant spices and exotic ingredients, was so refreshing and exciting! Everything was meticulous in presentation and so uniquely delicious. We enjoyed a buffet style Morrocan breakfast each morning with so many options to choose from. Each time we sat at our table the staff would quickly run to bring a bench for my bag to prevent it from touching the ground.
THE POOL AND BEACH
Although we didn’t really need to leave our private villa to enjoy a pool, the infinity pool and beach were so inviting and relaxing.
THE GROUNDS
The grounds of this resort are authentically Moroccan, with local tropical vegetation quite unique to the area contrasted by the stark white buildings of this resort.
Day Trip To Tétouan
We really wanted to visit the UNESCO towns of Chefchaouen, the blue city, and Tétouan but would only have time to visit Tétouan (I guess we will just have to come back). We toured through the ancient Medina taking in all the sounds, sights and smells that made us fall in love with Morocco. A guide helped us navigate the maze-like Medina.
Of the many places we have been fortunate enough to visit, nothing really compares to this very unique and special place. There is an air of refined elegance that’s hard to describe but that you can only feel when you are here.
To call the Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay just a luxury resort is an understatement. The serene location, majestic architecture, and uncompromising attention to detail make it one of the finest, most beautiful places we have ever been.
Thank you Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay for a most memorable stay that we will never forget.
